Here to do the journey with you.

  • How do you vet and recruit caregivers?
We have a thorough vetting and recruitment process for our caregivers, which includes: Conducting a comprehensive criminal background check Contacting and verifying professional references Confirming certifications and qualifications Conducting in-depth interviews that assess knowledge and require caregivers to demonstrate their practical caregiving skills
  • What training do the caregivers have?
All our current caregivers have been trained by recognized providers accredited by SAQA. It is mandatory for all caregivers to have a minimum of 1 year's worth of work experience in the industry prior to being employed by us. We test our caregivers on knowledge prior to placement and provide refresher or supplementary training as required. Dolphin Coast Care is in the process of creating its own accredited caregiving training course. We will seek accreditation from the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) and registration by SAQA for the course to be recognized as an NQF qualification.
  • Can the caregivers cook?
All our caregivers can cook basic meals; however, some caregivers have received additional training in cooking and are able to cook more advanced meals. We always aim to match client needs with caregiver skillset as well as personality type.
  • Can the caregivers drive?
Some of our caregivers drive and have vehicles, but most do not. If you require transportation services we can assist with this separately.
  • How long have you been in business?
We started operations in February 2023.
  • What qualifications and experience do you have?
Storm Lindenberg has an honours degree in Medical Biochemistry from the University of Birmingham (UK), a Diploma in Caregiving, and a Certificate in Dementia Care. He has worked as a caregiver for two caregiving companies in the UK and has been leading Dolphin Coast Care since its inception in 2023.
  • Will I have a choice of caregivers?
Yes, you may request to interview up to 3 caregivers if you are requiring 1 caregiver and 5 caregivers if you are requiring 2.
  • Will you assign the same caregiver to me every time, or will I have multiple caregivers?
If you are on a monthly contract agreement, you will always have the same caregiver(s) unless your caregiver is temporarily sick or on leave. If you require ad hoc care, you will have the same caregiver for the length of the contract. If you return for additional ad hoc care at a later stage, we cannot guarantee you will have the same caregiver.
  • How soon can care begin?
In emergency situations, we are usually able to begin care in as little as 24hrs. For our complete matching process, including caregiver personality type matching, it usually takes 3-5 days.
  • What is the benefit of going through your company?
We provide a managed care service. We do not just place you with a caregiver, but we manage your highly personalized care each step of the way. We primarily achieve this through reviewing daily reports from the caregivers and also through ad hoc home visits. We are also always on hand to respond to emergency situations - sometimes getting to you faster than the emergency services. We take care of all payroll duties and regulatory compliance, e.g. tax submissions, UIF declarations, Workman’s Compensation contributions etc. Additionally, we take care of paid holiday leave and sick leave. This is at no extra cost to you and has already been provided for in our Rates. When you caregiver is on leave, we will provide you with a suitable replacement caregiver. We are able to assist with extra services such as transportation, doing your shopping or running errands. Lastly, we can make use of our experience to refer you to a variety of trusted health professionals (should you need it) through the wide network we have built up on the Dolphin Coast.
  • Will you assist with the caregiver’s access to my estate?
Yes, we will carry out all the necessary procedures for your caregiver to obtain biometric access to your estate. We are well acquainted with most estate systems on the Dolphin Coast.
  • What facilities will my live-in caregiver need?
Their own bedroom with a door and access to a bathroom and shower.
  • Will the caregiver eat with me?
This is an important part of companionship, and we always encourage our clients to eat main meals with their caregivers.
  • Do I have to pay the caregivers transport?
No, the cost of transport is already factored into our Rates.
  • Will the caregiver help with medication?
Our caregivers are trained to carefully follow doctors’ prescriptions and will ensure the client takes the right medication at the right dosage at the right time. They will also record and report on medication taken. Our caregivers are not permitted to physically administer medication but will ensure you take your medication correctly. Our caregivers will monitor the supply of medication and inform the necessary parties when stocks are running low or even go to the pharmacy for you to pick up your new medication.
  • What happens if my caregiver is sick or needs a holiday?
We will provide a suitable replacement caregiver at no extra cost to you. All leave is taken by agreement with you and any paid leave is funded by us at no extra cost to you (it is already accounted for in our Rates).
  • What happens if I don't like the caregiver (on the rare occasion)?
A trial shift period of one week may be requested. During this period, we will provide an alternative caregiver if you request this due to personality type differences. In case no trial shift period has been agreed to or if it has expired, you may request for us to source, vet, train, and employ an alternative caregiver at any time, chargeable at R500 for every alternate caregiver.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
One month of notice, unless agreed otherwise due to exceptional circumstances.
  • How will the caregiver help me at home?
See our ‘What We Offer’ page here.
  • How will my loved ones be kept up to date with progress?
The caregiver will provide daily reporting on a WhatsApp group with our management and your loved ones. Reports will be sent once per day for shifts lasting 4-6 hours, twice for shifts lasting 8-10 hours, and three times for shifts lasting more than 10 hours or for live-in care.
  • Are there any other hidden fees?
No. All fees are detailed in the client agreement.

We have been using carers from Dolphin Coast Care for 7 months now. Storm and Sophie are both so kind and caring, going the extra mile for us, making us feel like the most important people in the world. This goes for both my husband the patient, and myself, giving me so much love and support. Their carers, and especially Phumzile, are awesome - so professional, knowledgeable and very very kind. I honestly don't know what we would have done (and still would do, without them). Please save yourself the trouble of shopping around, just contact them first.

I cannot rate Dolphin Coast Care high enough. They provided compassionate care for my father with bad dementia. Not only did they go out of their way to keep good communication lines at all times but they were very supportive with an approach that made the whole family feel at ease. Their service levels were outstanding and above all they were kind, compassionate and highly professional.
